In the evocative Sala degli Specchi of the Palazzo Ducale, Ludwig van Beethoven’s music meets history itself. The protagonist of the evening is the Trio Op. 97 in B-flat major, known as the “Archduke” Trio—dedicated to the composer’s pupil and patron Archduke Rudolf of Austria.

Composed in 1811, the work represents the culmination of Beethoven’s chamber music output: a monumental piece that moves beyond the intimacy of the salon to embrace an almost symphonic breadth, poised between solemn grandeur and passages of pure lyricism.

Performing this masterpiece is the Paddington Trio, a young ensemble of exceptional caliber: through their close artistic rapport, the dialogue between strings and piano conveys all the majesty and luminosity of a work that marks the boundary between Classical balance and the emerging Romantic impulse.
