The Fedra Ensemble presents a program that moves across eras, languages, and musical traditions, resisting any fixed genre definition.
At the center of the journey is Daniele Richiedei’s reimagining of Monteverdi’s Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda: an early masterpiece transformed into a contemporary narrative capable of naturally conversing with singer-songwriter repertoire and international popular music. Alongside the dramatic tension inherited from Monteverdi, very different sonic worlds coexist: the ironic melancholy of Enzo Jannacci, the intimate and suspended writing of Joni Mitchell, the poetic depth of Francesco De Gregori, the aching humanity of Bruce Springsteen, and the evocative visions of Lucio Dalla and Alberto L. De Simone. In this context, the songs are treated as modern madrigals, revealing a deep connection between text, storytelling, and musical expression.
Within the Sala dei Fiumi, the Fedra Ensemble together with the Chamber Orchestra of Mantua builds an intense and intimate listening experience, where original arrangements and chamber writing continually redefine the boundary between classical and popular music. The strength of the project lies in its ability to hold together compositional rigor and expressive freedom, offering the audience a sonic journey centered on fragility, conflict, and the most deeply human dimension of music.
