FEDRA was founded in 2017 from the meeting of Daniele Richiedei (violin and viola), Simona Severini (voice and guitar), and Giulio Corini (double bass), and has since been regularly invited to perform in concert halls and festivals across Italy and abroad, including Teatro Grande in Brescia, the “Casa del Jazz” in Rome (Parco della Musica), the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona, “I Concerti del Quirinale” broadcast live on RAI and RaiPlay, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm.
Fedra is an ensemble with a creative approach to music, free from stylistic labels, exploring the boundary between jazz and early music, with a repertoire that spans 600 years of musical history: from Monteverdi to Joni Mitchell, from Lasso to Duke Ellington, from Handel to Lucio Dalla.
The trio’s lineup is occasionally expanded for specific projects and artistic residencies, involving distinguished guests among the leading figures of the Italian jazz scene, all sharing a strong sensitivity toward a “chamber-like” sound. This includes collaborations such as the quartet with guitarist Peo Alfonsi and the quintet featuring trumpeter Fulvio Sigurtà.
