Nicolas Altstaedt, cello
Alexander Lonquich, piano
S. Rachmaninov (1873-1943)
Sonata for cello and piano in G minor, Op. 19
35’ | Ticket 12 €
The program of this concert revolves around Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Sonata Op. 19, a masterpiece from 1901 born out of the composer’s creative rebirth—one of the last great representatives of Romantic music. This is not a simple duo, but a living, equal dialogue between instruments: the piano weaves monumental harmonic textures over which the cello unfolds a deep, poignant Russian lyricism.
Rather than a duo, Nicolas Altstaedt and Alexander Lonquich create a single organism, capable of blending Altstaedt’s visceral cello sound with Lonquich’s structural mastery and refined timbral sensitivity.
Between the melancholy of the Andante and the energy of the Finale, the intimate acoustics of the Bibiena will transform this clash of passions into an almost private experience, allowing the audience to perceive every breath of a performance that promises to be unforgettable.
