Concert in the series Beyond the Classical Form, supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC) and SIAE, within the framework of the Per Chi Crea programme, with additional support from Ruberti e Associati.
Questioning the future of chamber music… through the encounter between the arts. Hallucination is perhaps the only fitting definition for an experiment that is neither concert, nor theatre piece, nor art installation. We Wept Long by the Rivers stands at the crossroads of artistic practices: the refined text written by the quartet’s first violin is placed alongside music selected by the ensemble, without strict historical or geographical coordinates within music history, but rather shaped according to the needs of the scene and the choices of the visual artist drawing freely from the repertoire.
At the same time, the performance space itself becomes an ever-changing scenography through video mapping projections. The result is an experience that pushes the very idea of the classical concert to its limits, boldly striving toward the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk — the total work of art.
