Clarinet Quintet in A major, K. 581 “Stadler”
35’ | Ticket €10
The concert features the Ragazze Quartet and clarinetist Tommaso Lonquich in the evocative Sala degli Antenati of Palazzo d’Arco, a historic neoclassical residence that hosted the Mozart family between 1769 and 1770.
The program is devoted to one of the masterpieces of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s chamber music: the Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in A major, written for his friend and clarinetist Anton Stadler. In this work, Mozart achieves a perfect balance between classical form and expressive freedom, creating a “democratic” dialogue in which the clarinet blends with the strings without ever dominating them. The opening Allegro avoids strong dramatic contrasts, favoring timbral fluidity and continuous exchanges between the instruments. The Larghetto, the lyrical heart of the quintet, unfolds a clarinet melody of intense lyricism, supported by a soft and transparent string accompaniment. After a Minuet that alternates elegance with melancholic shades, the Finale in variations explores different expressive and timbral possibilities, leading to a bright and energetic conclusion.
