With Four Thousand Holes, Trame Sonore explores the poetics of John Luther Adams, leading the listener on a sensorial journey inspired by the vast landscapes of Alaska. The composer builds a refined sonic architecture in which piano, percussion, and electronics are layered like strata of ice, creating an immersive experience in a stretched sense of time, where the boundary between acoustic sound and digital signal tends to dissolve.

The performance is entrusted to an exceptional duo: Simone Beneventi, recipient of the Silver Lion of the Venice Biennale, and Andrea Rebaudengo, one of the most versatile performers on the contemporary music scene. The challenge for the two artists lies in managing Adams’ dense rhythmic writing, built on constant pulses that demand absolute precision and synchronicity. Their interpretation highlights the ability to make every overtone resonate, generating a hypnotic dialogue with the electronic layer.

The setting of Santa Maria della Vittoria amplifies this experience: the church’s vast vaults become a natural resonating chamber, turning sound into a living, enveloping material. A concert that invites the listener to suspend ordinary spatial perception and be carried toward a vast, contemplative sonic horizon.
