Yeyoung Eom was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 2000 and began studying piano seriously at the age of 15. Although she started her musical training later than many of her peers, she built a strong musical foundation through consistent dedication and deep passion, winning prizes in several national competitions, including the Eumyeon Competition and the Eumaksekye Competition.
After completing her bachelor’s degree with Young-ran Han at Yonsei University in South Korea, she moved to Germany, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Solo Piano at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen under Thomas Günther. During her solo studies, she discovered a particular passion for ensemble music through intensive collaboration with various chamber music groups, performing in piano trios, quartets, and quintets.
She is currently continuing her artistic training in piano accompaniment with Thomas Hoppe. Throughout her studies, she has participated in numerous university recitals and performance projects, including masterclasses and duo recitals. These experiences have allowed her to further develop her musical communication skills, her refined sense of tonal balance between instruments, and her personal artistic voice, while deepening her expression as a collaborative pianist.
She has also taken part in numerous international festivals and academies, including the Korean piano academy “For the Piano” and the Romanian “Timișoara Chamber Music Academy.” In addition, she has attended solo and ensemble masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Stefan Mendl of the Vienna Piano Trio and Arkadi Zenzipér. She has gained extensive performance experience through solo recitals, concerts at the Museum Folkwang, and participation in the “Artewith Rising Player” concert series, and continues to expand her career as a professional collaborative pianist with an international focus.
