Astra Lanz is a theatre and film actress trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. She has attended advanced workshops with Anna Strasberg, Mauro Avogadro, Valerio Binasco, Mamadou Dioumè, Ives Lebreton, and Malou Airaudo. She also studied classical dance with teachers trained at the Royal Academy of Dance in London.
On television, she is known for her role as “Suor Maria” in Don Matteo, which she portrayed from season 6 to season 12.
In theatre, she has performed in numerous productions, including Hedda Gabler and La conferenza degli uccelli, directed by Reza Keradman at SalaUnoTeatro in Rome; Il gabbiano, Il giardino dei ciliegi, Morire o no, Moravia, and La locandiera, directed by Giancarlo Nanni at Teatro Vascello in Rome; Zio Vanja, directed by Valentino Orfeo at Teatro dell’Orologio in Rome; Lear by Edward Bond and Cardiff East by Peter Gill, directed by Tim Stark at TeatroDue in Parma; and Mostro by Duncan Macmillan, directed by Massimiliano Farau at Teatro Belli in Rome.
She also worked as an actress and puppeteer for four seasons at the Teatro delle Marionette of Gianni and Cosetta Colla in Milan. In addition, she is the actress and author of La cerimonia, freely inspired by the work of Jean Genet, presented at the TeatroCineFestival in Calcata and SalaUnoTeatro in Rome.
