Aoife Ní Bhriain is one of Ireland’s leading violinists. She has received major awards in both classical and Irish traditional music, including multiple All Ireland titles, the Bonn Óir Sheáin Uí Riada, The Fiddler of Dooney, the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Award (a major distinction presented by Ireland’s national Irish-language broadcaster), Camerata Ireland Young Musician of the Year, the Pontino Festival Young Musician Award, Second Prize at the International Violin Competition “Marie Cantagrill,” and Third Prize at the International Violin Competition “Vasco Abadjev.”
She has collaborated with musicians across a wide range of genres, including actor and songwriter Tim Robbins and his group The Rogues, Kate St John, Declan O’Rourke, Camille O’Sullivan, Kris Drever, Martin Hayes, Dennis Cahill, Mick O’Brien, Emer Mayock, Julie Fowlis, Pádraig Rynne, John Sheahan, and many others.
As a chamber musician, she has performed with artists such as Eliso Virsaladze, Barry Douglas, Mariana Sîrbu, Massimo Paris, Finghin Collins, Tatiana Masurenko, Franck Reinecke, and Andrei Banciu. She has recorded and collaborated with Golden Globe nominee Brian Byrne and with producer and Grammy Award winner Judith Sherman.
