Irene Piazza - violin

Irene Piazza is a Sicilian violinist and lives in Holland.
Graduated in 2022 from the Amsterdam Conservatory under the guidance first of Ilya Grubert and then of Vera Beths, she recently won the violin competition at the Residentie Orkest in The Hague. Previously he collaborated with orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orkest, the Haydn orchestra of Trento and Bolzano and the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari. In 2023 she was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
Also passionate about chamber music, she is currently first violin of the Rijks Quartet and a member of the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, with which she has collaborated since 2021.
His interest goes beyond the classical repertoire, in fact she has experience in improvisation and interdisciplinary performance. She is a stable member of the WORDS collective, an improvised music project created by Matteo Paggi, with whom he recorded his debut album of the same name, released last February 2024.
Irene plays an L. Houniet violin and an LH Gillet bow, both courtesy of the Dutch foundation Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds.
