Designed by Luigi Canonica and inaugurated in 1822, the Teatro Sociale di Mantova preserves the charm of the traditional Italian-style theatre, with its horseshoe-shaped auditorium, stacked tiers of boxes, and elegant Neoclassical decorations. Originally built as an opera house and now recognised as a theatre of tradition, it continues to host seasons of drama, music, and dance.

For Trame Sonore, this year the Teatro Sociale di Mantova also becomes a space for perceptual experimentation. In a completely unprecedented way, it will in fact be experienced from a reversed perspective: both audience and performers will be welcomed onto the stage, transforming the usual relationship between auditorium and performance space. The musicians will perform at the edge of the stage, while spectators will watch the concert with an unusual view over the auditorium and the darkened, empty boxes. A reversed vision that turns this iconic venue into an intimate and deeply immersive experience.
