An eclectic performer and tireless researcher, Claudio Astronio is one of the most multifaceted figures on today’s international Baroque music scene. With this program, Astronio approaches the instrument as an extension of the human voice: the heart of the concert lies in the alternation between the works of Frescobaldi and Glass, through which the musician highlights how music — whether ancient or modern — continually seeks to transcend matter itself. The finale is entrusted to Frescobaldi’s Toccata chromatica per la Levatione, a masterpiece of seventeenth-century harmonic daring that, together with Metamorphosis III, completes the circle of this sensory experience.
In this journey across centuries, the organ ceases to be merely an instrument and becomes instead a guardian of the soul, transforming every note into a breath of timeless contemporaneity.
