He graduated in Choral Music and Choral Conducting, Operatic Singing, and Vocal Pedagogy from the conservatories of Verona, Trento, and Mantua. He subsequently specialized in Baroque singing with Cristina Miatello, beginning an intense concert activity, particularly in the field of early music.

He has participated in recording projects including H. Schütz’s Weihnachtshistorie with Cappella Augustana and C. Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo with Sergio Vartolo, both for the Dutch label Brilliant Classics, as well as J. S. Bach’s Johannes Passion BWV 245 with Antiqua Camerata Veneta.

He served as music director of the choir Amici della Musica (2002–2022), with which he took part in festivals in Aix-en-Provence (France, 2004), Les Choralies (Corsica, 2005 and 2014), Valsamoggia (Bologna, 2014), and Musica Sacra (Croatia, 2019), as well as of the choir of the Basilica of San Zeno in Verona (2009–2014) and the male vocal octet I Madrigalisti Anonimi (2017–2020). He has held teaching positions in Singing and Choral Conducting at the Diocesan School of Sacred Music “S. Cecilia” in Verona and at the Accademia d’Arti Discanto.

Since 2024 he has been Artistic and Music Director of the Cultural Association Ensemble Vocale di Caldiero. Particularly active as a composer and arranger of choral music, he also works as a music critic for the magazine GBOpera.

Gian Paolo will take part in Trame Sonore 2026 as a member of the Mantua Baroque Ensemble.
