Cosimo Carovani is a soloist, chamber musician, composer, and writer.
After studying with Andrea Nannoni, Filippo Burchietti, Enrico Bronzi, Giovanni Gnocchi, and Enrico, he obtained a Bachelor’s diploma (K.A.) at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, studying under Tilmann Wick.
A chamber musician by vocation, he is the cellist of the Quartetto Indaco, with which he has built an international career. He has performed as a chamber musician and soloist at festivals such as Heidelberger Frühling, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival, NDR Musikwochen, International MusikFest Goslar, Grunelius Concert in Frankfurt, and many others.
He collaborates with internationally renowned artists including Avi Avital, Uri Caine, Derek Bermel, Steven Swedish, Claudia Barainsky, Julian Bliss, and Christian Löffler.
His compositional catalogue already includes more than sixty opus numbers, and his works have been performed at venues such as Teatro della Pergola, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Paesaggi Musicali Toscani Festival, Agimus Florence, and the “Le Strade del Suono” Festival in Genoa. Together with the Quartetto Indaco, he released the ambitious project Dante 21, in which he participates both as performer and composer.
He is the dedicatee of numerous works by composers such as Giovanni Sollima, Alessandro Solbiati, Federico Maria Sardelli, Nicola Sani, and Michele Sarti. In 2021 he published his second narrative book, Intorno alla Musica, with NeoClassica.
He plays a cello by Charles Claudot (1840).
