Alejandra Rojas was born in Caracas, Venezuela, where she participated in the renowned music education program “El Sistema” founded by José Antonio Abreu. In 2008 she continued her studies in Spain with Stefano Canuti at the Conservatory of Music of Aragón, and later in the United Kingdom at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she obtained an International Artist Diploma.
As a soloist, she has performed with the orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Manchester Camerata, Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra, Wirral Symphony Orchestra, and the RNCM Chamber Orchestra. She has performed at the Tokyo Double Reed Society Convention, the International Bassoon Festival in Rio de Janeiro, the Double Reed Festival in Fiesole, and the Congress of Bassoonists and Oboists of Spain in Barcelona. She has also given masterclasses at the Conservatory of Gran Canaria and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
In the orchestral and chamber music field, she has collaborated with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The Human Rights Orchestra, Les Dissonances, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
She is currently Principal Bassoon of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino orchestra and teaches bassoon and chamber music at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
