Irena Kavčič – flute

Irena Kavčič performs as a soloist and first flute in various European orchestras, such as the Slovenian Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, the Leonore Orchestra of Pistoia, the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico of Vicenza, the Haydn Philharmonie, the Aarhus Symphony and the Aalborg Symphony, the Sony Chamber Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra. She has performed in the most prestigious halls (Teatro alla Scala, Musikverein of Vienna, Auditorio Nacional of Madrid, Palau de la Música of Valencia) and is invited by international festivals such as the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival, the Encuentro de Música de Santander and the Trame Sonore festivals in Mantua and Dino Ciani in Cortina d’Ampezzo. She was a founding member of chamber groups with which she won numerous first prizes in international competitions. As a chamber musician she has collaborated with Alexander Lonquich, Pekka Kuusisto, Umberto Clerici, Jeffrey Swann, Nils Mönkemeyer, Claudio Martinez Mehner, Andreas Ottensamer. Even as a soloist she has been awarded national and international prizes and recognitions, including the Prešeren Prize and the Yamaha scholarship. She began his studies with Maja Klanjšcˇek and Alenka Zupan, graduating from the Ljubljana Academy of Music, under the guidance of Carolina Šantl-Zupan. She specialized at the University of Music and Arts in Vienna with Gisela Mashayekhi-Beer and at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid with Jacques Zoon and Aniela Frey.
