Alessandro Maria Carnelli - piano

Alessandro Maria Carnelli is an orchestra director, musicologist and popularizer.
He has conducted several times at the Musikverein in Vienna, at Sala Verdi, Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, he has directed the Teatro Regio Ensemble in Turin and collaborated several times with the Mantua Chamber Orchestra. His concerts have been broadcast on Sky Classica.
He has recorded a CD on Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht with the Mantua Chamber Orchestra (‘best CD of the month’ in the Amadeus magazine and defined as ‘a splendid, inventive, exciting recording’). Still in Mantua, he recorded his second CD: “A Symphony and its Consequences” (symphonies by Haydn, Vanhal and Mozart) which, like the first, achieved international success.
He directs the Pierrot Project Ensemble and, with them, he presented Schönberg’s Pierrot lunaire in Italy and Germany, created in scenic form, as a shadow theatre show and as a multimedia project (IED European Design Institute – Triennale di Milano).
With the ensemble, he has recorded a CD dedicated to the world of Mahler’s Wunderhorn, defined as ‘a work of art’ and ‘splendid’ by Luca Ciammarughi, and ‘a magnificent listen’ by Elide Bergamaschi.
He is the author of the monographs on Mussorgskij, Tchaikovsky, Schönberg and Shostakovič published by Skira – Corriere della Sera, and “Il Labirinto e l’intrico dei viottoli”, a monograph on Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht, defined as ‘admirable’ by Quirino Principe in Il Sole 24Ore is ‘beautiful’ in the Amadeus magazine, and it has been translated into German.
