TRAME / ESPRIT DE FRANCE

France has always welcomed and given space to some of the greatest artists in the world, with a vast musical production – from symphonic and chamber music to opera and ballet – spanning the centuries. This year it will be France to be the protagonist of a Plot, a real fil rouge that runs throughout the Festival with a large number of concerts that draw the many faces of France from the Baroque to the twentieth century. 2022 stands out for two important anniversaries: the 100th anniversary of the death of Marcel Proust, honored with a concert by authors close to him, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of César Franck. The great Belgian composer spent almost all of his life in France, of which he became one of the reference musicians, one of the greatest exponents of Romanticism, a great organist and model for subsequent generations. These two figures will be joined by Fauré, the Boulanger sisters, Debussy, Mehul, Onslow, Poulenc, in a vast fresco that fans of French music cannot absolutely miss. Among the most important moments is the performance of Gabriel Fauré’s Bonne chanson, one of the most beautiful cycles in the repertoire, performed by a sextet of stars: Ian Bostridge, Alexander Lonquich and the Quartet Kelemen. Another important event is the double concert of the Quartetto Cambini of Paris with the soprano Judith van Wanroij who signs a collaboration with the Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice, which has been involved for years in the promotion of French romantic music.
