Stephen Waarts is studying with Mihaela Martin at the Kronberg Academy. He also graduated from the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia where under the guidance of Aaron Rosand.
He previously worked with Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program and Li Lin at the San Francisco Conservatory.
At the age of 17 he won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York. He was the prize winner at the 2013 Montreal International Competition and won the first prize at the 2014 Menuhin Competition.

In addition to performing solo, he is also an avid chamber musician. He has played at London’s Wigmore Hall and Paris’ Auditorium du Louvre, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and New York’s Carnegie Hall.
He collaborated with Sir András Schiff, performing Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Timothy Ridout and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe as part of the Kronberg Academy Festival.

He was awarded the International Classical Music Awards Orchestra Award by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. He won the soloist prize of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele. He has performed at the Aspen Music Festival and the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York, as well as with the Orchester National de Belgique, the Slovak Philharmonic and the Cape Town Philharmonic.

Waarts is part of the Orpheum Foundation’s development program for the Improvement of Young Soloists.
