Palazzo d’Arco, Sala degli Antenati

Stefano Marcocchi undertook an activity from a very young age that led him to collaborate with ensembles such as Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Mozart Orchestra and Lucerne Festival Orchestra and, as first viola, with RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Mantua, Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic.
At the same time, his interest in historical performance practice has led him to establish himself internationally as one of the most requested interpreters of his own instrument, as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher.
With Zefiro and Europa Galante he has performed in prestigious halls such as Carnegie Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Teatro alla Scala, Sydney Opera House, Mozarteum, Tokyo Opera City Hall, Barbican Center, Walt Disney Hall, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
Other noteworthy collaborations include Byzantine Academy, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, I Barocchisti, Il Complesso Barocco, Concerto Italiano, Ensemble Aurora, Il Giardino Armonico, and numerous chamber music projects alongside performers such as Stanley Ritchie, Giuliano Carmignola, Gaetano Nasillo, Dorothee Oberlinger , Maurice Steger and Quatuor Cambini-Paris.
Besides the concert activity, the didactic one plays an increasingly central role, Vanta past as Guest Lecturer Professor of Baroque Viola at the University of Toronto, and has held masterclasses at the Academy of Ancient Music in Brunico.
Since 2021 he has held a historical viola course at “Urbino Musica Antica”.
