Paolo Carlini studied with Vittorio Gavioli, Marco Costantini, Klaus Thunemann.
He is the first bassoon soloist of the Orchestra della Toscana and collaborates in this role with orchestras such as La Scala, the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, La Fenice Theater, Rome Opera House, Bologna Municipal Theater. He has played in orchestra and as a soloist under the direction of Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Myung-Whun Chung, Daniel Harding, Esa Pekka Salonen, and many others.
In the field of chamber music he has collaborated with musicians such as Janine Jansen, Julian Raclin, Gabriele Pieranunzi, Massimo Quarta, Pavel Vernikov, Alain Meunier, Bruno Canino, Hansiorg Schellenberger, playing at the most important musical centers in the world (Carnegie Hall, Mozarteum , Auditorio Nacional Madrid, KKL Lucerna, Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, Conservatory of Tel Aviv, Concert Hall of Tokyo and Hong-Kong.
He is the dedicatee of works by important composers such as Azio Corghi, Ivan Fedele, Luis De Pablo, Ennio Morricone, Luis Bacalov, Ludovico Einaudi, Carlo Boccadoro, Alessandro Solbiati, Nicola Sani, Marcello Panni.
Numerous recordings in solo form for Sony Classical, CPO, Chandos, Naxos, Brilliant, Tactus, EMA Records, Stradivarius, Amadeus.
He holds specialization courses and masterclasses at CNSMD of Lyon, New York University, Haute École de Musique of Geneva and other prestigious institutions.
He is bassoon teacher at the P. Mascagni Conservatory of Livorno.
