Composer, pianist and musicologist, he is considered one of the best Italian music communicators. He is one of the best known radio voices of “Lezioni di musica” (very popular weekly Rai Radio3 broadcast) and has published books dedicated to Mozart (Laterza, 2015), Beethoven (Laterza, 2013) and the Viennese Symphony (Edizioni Estemporanee, 2012) . His latest book, Lo spartito del mondo (Laterza, 2018), is dedicated to multiculturalism, to the ability of music to make different cultures dialogue.
He regularly holds concert-lessons, directly on the piano, at many of the most prestigious Italian institutions: Teatro alla Scala, Teatro La Fenice, National Academy of Santa Cecilia, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio Torino, Mito – Settembre Musica, Bologna Festival , Ravello Festival, Sferisterio di Macerata, Festivaletteratura and Trame Sonore. It also collaborates regularly with some important international events such as the Cartagena International Festival in Colombia. Among his television appearances, the recent one on RaiUno, alongside Piero Angela, in the five episodes of SuperQuark Musica.
Giovanni Bietti is also a professional food and wine critic: he has been wine taster of the Espresso guide “Vini d’Italia” for years and has published five volumes dedicated to natural wines of Italy.
