Giovanni Bellini studied classical guitar, lute, tiorba and Spanish guitar. He attended a Máster in Instrumentos de cuerda pulsada under the guidance of Xavier Díaz-Latorre.
He has played both as a soloist and as a member of prestigious groups, including Le Concert des Nations, Ensemble Arte Musica, Academy of Arcadia, the Musical Chapel of S. Petronio, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Mare Nostrum, Ensemble of the Italian Foundation for Music Antica, Auser Musici, Modo Antiquo. It has been of festivals such as the Philarmonie de Paris, the Cervantino festival, the Alicante guitar festival, the season of the Bachakademie Stuttgart, Wigmore Hall Concerts, Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, the season of the Auditori and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Händel-Festspiele in Halle, Trigonale, Wunderkammer, Concerts of the Pauline Chapel at the Quirinale, Aldeburgh Music, Malatesta Music Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Festival Opera Barga, Leo Brouwer Festival, the Urbino Ancient Music Festival, The Concerts of the Byzantine Academy, the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik.
He has collaborated with Jordi Savall, Xavier Díaz-Latorre, Alessandro de Marchi, Francesco Cera, Richard Egarr, Giuliano Carmignola, Sara Mingardo, Roberta Invernizzi, Alessandro Quarta, Gemma Bertagnolli, Manfredo Kraemer.
He has recorded for Arcana, Alia Vox, Glossa, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Tactus, Amadeus, Naïve and Brilliant Classics.
He currently teaches lute, tiorba and baroque guitar at the advanced musical courses of the Music and Art Studies Center in Florence.
