Pupil of Salvatore Accardo and Stefan Gheorghiu, Gabriele Pieranunzi has obtained a long series of prizes in important international competitions (“N. Paganini” of Genoa 1988 and 1990, “T. Varga” of Sion, “L. Spohr” of Friborg, ” R. Romanini “of Brescia,” R. Lipizer “of Gorizia,” GB Viotti “of Vercelli,” Biennale “of Vittorio Veneto).
His activity has led him to perform in the main musical centers in Italy and abroad: National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Wigmore Hall in London, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Herculeesaal in Munich, Theater Coliseum of Buenos Aires, Opera City Hall of Tokyo, Malmoe Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra of Budapest, Philharmonic G. Enescu of Bucharest, Festival Bemus of Belgrade, Teatro Regio of Turin, Orchestra G. Verdi of Milan, Stresa Music Weeks, Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds, San Carlo Theater in Naples, Moscow Soloists.
He has collaborated with musicians such as J. Tate, V. Fedoseyev, G. Noseda, A. Ceccato, M.Bamert, A. Kontarsky, R. Kussmaul, N. Goerner, B. Canino, R. Filippini, Y. Bashmet.
At the invitation of the Municipality of Genoa, Gabriele Pieranunzi has repeatedly played the “Guarneri del Gesu” which belonged to Niccolò Paganini.
He plays the 1762 Ferdinando Gagliano violin, which previously belonged to the great violinist Gioconda de Vito, kindly made available by the Pro Canale Onlus association.
