A multifaceted musician, Claudio Astronio combines his organ and harpsichord solo activity with that of conductor and directs the group “Harmonices Mundi” with original instruments. He has been invited soloist and conductor of various orchestras including Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Moscow Symphonic, he holds concerts and recitals in prestigious halls and festivals in Europe, Canada, USA, South America and Japan. He collaborates with artists such as Emma Kirkby, Gustav Leonhardt, Gemma Bertagnolli, Susanne Rydèn, Yuri Bashmet.

He has recorded for the Stradivarius label and for Brilliant Classics. His records have been awarded numerous prizes at the most important Italian and foreign specialized magazines. For Brilliant Classics he is dedicating himself to the complete engraving of Wilhelm Friedemann Bach’s keyboard works and Alessandro Stradella’s vocal works.

He has held masterclasses and courses in various Italian and foreign conservatories and universities including Oberlin College (Ohio) and Tokyo Conservatory. He is a visiting lecturer at the Sibelius Academy Helsinki and the Royal College of Music in London. He is permanent director of the THERESIA youth orchestra, artistic director of the Antiqua Festival in BolzanoFestivalBozen and member of the board of directors of the REMA Réseau Europeén de Musique Ancienne. Since 2016 he has been Artistic Advisor of the “Ferruccio Busoni” International Piano Competition.

He teaches harpsichord and historical keyboards at the Conservatory of Trapani.
