Béatrice Muthelet studied in Israel at the prestigious Telma Yelin High School of Arts with Chaim Taub, Isaac Stern and Shlomo Mintz and in the United States with Pinchas Zuckerman. She later returned to Europe to take part in the Karajan Akademie of the Berliner Philharmoniker, with whom she then collaborated for two years. In 2001 she joined the Mahler Chamber Orchestra as first viola and became a founding member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
Since then, she has been invited to play as a first viola by numerous orchestras including Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Münchner Philharmoniker, Bamberg Symphony, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala.
Her passion remains chamber music: in 2000 Béatrice founded the Capuçon Quartet, with which she performed until 2014 and recorded two CDs produced by EMI.
She also performs with the likes of Martha Argerich, Steven Isserlis, Christian Tetzlaff, Isabelle Faust, Victoria Mullova, Maxim Vengerov, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Hélène Grimaud and Lars Vogt.
In March 2017 she recorded her first solo album with the German pianist Oliver Triendl.
Béatrice is also engaged as a teacher: she collaborates with the academies of Bolzano and Dortmund and with the Verbier Youth Orchestra.
She was one of the first members of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to perform as a soloist with the same orchestra, performing Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Renaud Capuçon at the Ascona Music Weeks festival.
