In 1878 Tchaikovsky went to a villa for the first time in Florence, as a “distant” guest of Nadeszda von Meck, a particular and close friend and benefactress of the Russian composer. The great passion for the Italian melody led him, in these Florentine travels, around 1887, to compose his only Sextet, a gift from Florence, “Souvenir de Florence. All this and other emotions made of romantic melody, between Russia and Italy, we will hear in the Sala di Manto with the Oistrakh Quartet together with Danilo Rossi and Miriam Prandi.
