Nicola Dolci returns to the Antegnati organ of the Basilica of Santa Barbara for a program dedicated to the influence of Monteverdi’s revolutionary second practice on sixteenth-seventeenth century organists. Monteverdi encouraged generations of composers to write more freely, emphasizing contrasts and emphasizing musical expressiveness. The great organ interpreter of this revolution was the great Girolamo Frescobaldi, joined here by contemporary organists.
