Perhaps the most famous of Schubert’s Violin Sonatas, Sonata D 574 is permeated by that limpid cantabilità typical of the Viennese composer, which, as often happens, Schubert alternates with sudden changes of mood or energetic and dancing outbursts. A capricious character also animates the Allegro moderato which opens the Sonata D 385, full of streaks and chiaroscuro. The two works will be performed by the first violin of the Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Roland Greutter, and the Romanian pianist Herbert Schuch.
