The frescoes of the Galleria degli Specchi host Jennifer Stumm, a regular guest of Trame Sonore for years, and Herbert Schuch, to perform one of the masterpieces of the nineteenth-century repertoire, the First Sonata for viola and piano. Originally for clarinet, it is Brahms himself who authorizes the version with viola, in which the dark and mellow sound of the stringed instrument finds its ideal dimension for one of Brahms’ last masterpieces, composed a few years before his death.
