The Bibiena Theater hosts a house formation in Mantua, the Klimt Quartet, this time “enlarged” for a rarely performed piece: the youthful Sextet by Felix Mendelssohn, with a peculiar ensemble with double viola, compared to the well-known precedent of Schubert’s La Trota . An agile, fresh, sparkling piece, the Sextet shows its debts to the Classicism so loved by Mendelssohn, at the same time showing a shocking brilliance of writing for a barely fifteen-year-old composer.
